Yuk Wong Po Din, Shau Kei Wan

The Temple is the only one temple in Hong Kong which worship Yuk Wong Tai Tai as the main deity.

Yuk Wong Tai Tai - Jade Emperor (玉皇大帝)

Yuk Wong Tai Tai or the Jade Emperor is in-charge of the Heaven. He is the king of all immortals and has the power to order them. It was said that Jade Emperor is the son of the King of the Pure Blissful Kingdom of Lofty Heavenly Lights. He was kind, intelligent and wise. He shared respect and benevolence to the poor and devoted the entire state treasury to the needy. In the Taoist world, Jade Emperor is the deity of the highest order.

Origin of the temple

The temple is located at A Kung Ngam. At the beginning of the 19th century, people mined stones in the nearby hill side for the urban development. They set up a shrine to worship Yuk Wong and the shrine was turned into a small temple at the early 20th century.

Architectural Setting

The small temple has only one main hall with a recessed facade entrance and a gable root structure.

Other Deities

Apart from the main deity of Yuk Wong Tai Tai, the temple also houses Kwun Yum (Goddess of Mercy) and Tin Hau (Goddess of the Sea).

Yuk Wong Tai Tai Festival

Yuk Wong Tai Tai Festival falls on the 9th January in Lunar Calendar.

This temple underwent renovations in 1992 and 1996.
